Pipeline Integrity and Corrosion Protection in Thailand

Complete pipeline integrity solutions including cathodic protection, AC mitigation, surveys, and coating systems.

What drives complexity in this sector

Buried and submerged pipelines are the backbone of the energy infrastructure JST Group protects. From greenfield CP system design to remediation of aging assets facing AC interference, our pipeline specialists bring engineering rigour and field execution capability together.

AC & DC Interference

Pipelines routed near HVAC power lines and rail corridors are at risk of stray current and AC-induced corrosion without proper mitigation.

How we solve it: AC & DC Interference

Holiday & Coating Defects

Field joint coatings and aging mainline coatings develop defects that allow corrosion to initiate if cathodic protection is inadequate.

How we solve it: Holiday & Coating Defects

Remote Monitoring

Hundreds of kilometres of buried pipeline require cost-effective, real-time data acquisition to detect CP system faults and coating breakdown.

How we solve it: Remote Monitoring

Right-of-Way Constraints

Surveying and maintenance in shared corridors requires specialist access planning, safety management, and stakeholder coordination.

Where corrosion starts in Pipelines assets, and how we stop it

The asset groups that corrode first, the mechanism behind each, and the JST service that addresses it. Compiled by our Corrosion Control Division from survey and maintenance work across the region.

  1. 01

    Mainline coating defects

The threat Holidays in factory and field-applied coatings expose steel to the soil, and the cathodic protection system cannot always reach every defect.

How we protect it DCVG and ACVG surveys locate and grade every defect indication so excavation and repair are planned by severity.

How we solve it: Mainline coating defects
  2. 02

    Cathodic protection shortfall

The threat Depleted anode beds, failed rectifiers, shielding and broken cables leave sections below the protection criterion without anyone knowing.

How we protect it CIPS to profile on and off potentials along the full route, rectifier and anode-bed refurbishment, and remote monitoring units at test posts.

How we solve it: Cathodic protection shortfall
  3. 03

    AC and DC interference

The threat Parallel HV power lines, electrified rail and foreign CP systems induce AC on the pipe and drive stray-current corrosion at coating defects.

How we protect it PRCI-modelled AC mitigation, Dairyland solid-state decouplers, grounding mats and interference bonds.

How we solve it: AC and DC interference
  4. 04

    Girth welds and field joints

The threat Field joint coatings applied in the trench are the weakest link in the coating system and the most common source of defect indications.

How we protect it Heat-shrink sleeves and viscoelastic systems applied by trained crews, with holiday detection before backfill.

How we solve it: Girth welds and field joints
  5. 05

    Casings, crossings and river sections

The threat Shorted casings, road and rail crossings and submerged sections are shielded from CP and hard to survey on foot.

How we protect it Pipeline current mapping through crossings, casing isolation repair and boat-based CIPS over water crossings.

How we solve it: Casings, crossings and river sections
  6. 06

    Internal corrosion

The threat Water drop-out at low points, CO2 and H2S, and bacteria corrode the pipe from the inside where external surveys cannot see.

How we protect it Corrosion coupons and ER probes at access fittings, inhibitor programmes and data trending by a corrosion technologist.
